Watch Cotto vs. Trout at Mustang Sally’s

On December 1, 2012, championship boxing returns to Mustang Sally’s, as we carry the much awaited fight between Miguel Cotto and Austin Trout.

Trout is the 27yo WBA Light Middleweight Champion, with a perfect 27-0 record. Cotto is a 32yo former champion that some say is on the downside of his career. Clearly, this is a chance to prove them wrong. Though his record of 37-3 has three blemishes, they came at the hands of men named Mayweather, Margarito and Pacquaio.

Trout’s hometown paper published an excellent piece on why this fight will be memorable.

Long known as one of the best sports bars in NYC, Mustang Sally’s the best bar in NYC showing the Cotto vs. Trout fight on pay per view.

Neil Young & Crazy Horse, Past & Present, at MSG

Rolling Stone reports that the official T-shirt of Neil Young and Crazy Horse‘s 2012 American tour has a very simple message on it: “Equal parts past, present and future.” It notes that at the tour’s stop in Albuquerque in August, the band delivered on this promise, as it “dipped deep into their catalog of classics, but gave almost equal time to material from Young’s next album with Crazy Horse.”

Tickets are still available for the show, albeit at the higher price levels.

To rev yourself up for the show, watch:

  • watch this clip of “Hey Hey My My” from Young’s last show at MSG, in December 2008.

Once you have your ticket, you’ll probably want to learn the names of the best restaurants near Madison Square Garden. Mustang Sally’s serves outstanding food, a full line-up of Irish and American craft beers (we are one of the only places to get McSorleys on tap) and we know how to get a concert crowd into the arena on time to see the show!

Come to Mustang Sally’s Before Zac Brown Band at Madison Square Garden

This Saturday night, November 17, the Zac Brown Band, a country and folk band from Atlanta, Georgia, invades Madison Square Garden. As always, a NYC show provides hope for some special guests, such as this collaboration with Gregg Allman this summer.

The tour supports the band’s new album,  “Uncaged,” which had a stellar performance on the Billboard charts. Yet, even though the band has been around in some form for a decade, it has only recently begun to realize big commercial success, and the  band members believe the best is yet to come for this band. The band notes that Uncaged has a wide range of songs, “from  traditional country (“The Wind”) to Caribbean rhythms (“Jump Right In”) and even slinky bedroom R&B (“Overnight”). Running roughshod over genre boundaries, and bringing its audience along for the ride, its title is absolutely accurate—this is truly the sound of a band ‘Uncaged’.”

With your tickets in hand, you’re now trying to figure out the best restaurants near Madison Square Garden. Mustang Sally’s is a legendary establishment in the shadow of MSG. We serve outstanding food, a full line-up of Irish and American craft beers (we are one of the only places to get McSorleys on tap) and we know how to get a concert crowd into the arena on time to see the show!

If you’re looking for a more upscale, sophisticated restaurant, check out our sister restaurant, Seven Bar and Grill, an upscale restaurant near MSG , just down the block.

The Best NYC Bar for Alumni Watch Parties

With the college football season is in full swing, bars in NYC are seeing a familiar dance; NYC Alumni groups look to switch the locations of their watch parties mid-season because their original choice disappointed them. Even if the “official” party doesn’t move, many of its members do. No bar can be the right place for alumni who graduated 16 months ago and 16 years ago. The adults in the group often tire of the fraternity house atmosphere of some watch parties and look for a more upscale place.

Sound familiar? Call Mustang Sally’s today, at 212-695-3806, and we’ll invite you to the best NYC bar to watch NCAA football.
