Watch NY Giants at Mustang Sally’s

Just four teams remain in the hunt for the trophy for Super Bowl XLVI (that’s 46 for those who don’t recall their Roman Numeral lessons).

One of those teams happens to be The New York Giants!! Yes, after their thorough dismantling of the defending champion Green Bay Packers (see highlights here) the Giants take on the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship, with the winner moving on to Super Bowl XLVI.

This season is beginning to remind many of the NY Giants fabulous run to victory in Super Bowl XLII in 2008. Click here for a look back at the at-times-hysterical media coverage of that amazing season.

As this week winds down, you’re likely wondering where is the best place to watch the NY Giants in NYC.

Mustang Sally’s has long been considered one of the best sports bars in NYC. We have TVs everywhere you turn, outstanding bar food, and a stellar line-up of world class beers. No wonder that NY Magazine wrote that Mustang Sally’s is “as comfortable place as any to while away an NFL Sunday.”

We emphatically agree. Many of those other places not only won’t have a seat for you, they won’t even give you a decent place to stand. Do you really want to watch the game while standing three-deep at the bar, having to push through each time you want a drink, and waiting for the inevitable fight?

We didn’t think so. Call Mustang Sally’s now at 212-695-3806 to reserve a table. As of writing this, we still have some tables available for the NY Giants – 49ers game on Sunday.

Do you have a group of fellow fans who want to get together for a game? Call us in advance and we’ll set aside an area just for you.

Gigantour Comes to Madison Square Garden

Famed heavy metal music festival Gigantour is taking over the Theater at MSG! On Saturday, January 28th, this festival, first organized by Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine in 2005, was originally designed as a festival consisting of “positive bands that play heavy music in a high energy environment.” This year’s festival linup, all handpicked by Mustaine himself, features the classic metal band Megadeth, Motorhead, Danish band Volbeat, and Italian metal band Lacuna Coil — and it’s sure to be an electrifying night. And – tickets are still available here.

Bringing the best in heavy metal to the best concert venue in the country can only mean one thing: an epic crowd for an epic performance. We’re expecting the crowds to be big and fun, and we invite you to join us at Mustang Sally’s before or after the show. With the show starting at 6:30, come spend your Saturday afternoon with us, and know that you can leave right before the show – since we’re right around the corner, you won’t have any worries about delayed trains or traffic. Or, come see us after the show. We’ll be rocking all night long.

Watch the Giants and Other NFL Playoff Games at Mustang Sally’s

Over the next few weeks, pro football moves from a once or twice a week hobby to a full-time obsession. Eight teams remain in the hunt for the trophy for Super Bowl XLVI (that’s 46 for those who don’t recall their Roman Numeral lessons).

Click here for a look at the NFL Playoff schedule.

Now that you know when your team is playing, your next question is “where should I watch the game?”

Mustang Sally’s has long been considered one of the best sports bars in NYC. We serve outstanding pub fare and bar food, along with a stellar line-up of world class beers and other drinks, and we have TVs everywhere you turn. While some bars are larger and perhaps get more press, NY Magazine wrote that Mustang Sally’s is “as comfortable place as any to while away a pennant race or an NFL Sunday.”

We emphatically agree. Many of those other places not only won’t have a seat for you, they won’t even give you a decent place to stand. Do you really want to watch the game while standing three-deep at the bar, having to push through each time you want a drink, and waiting for the inevitable fist-fight?

We didn’t think so. Call Mustang Sally’s now at 212-695-3806 to reserve a table. As of writing this, we still have some tables available for the NY Giants – Green Bay Packers game on Sunday.

The Knicks Head Back to MSG After a Win Over Detroit

It’s shaping up to be a tumultous season for Knicks fans. Mike D’Antoni and his team were expected to be a contendor this year, but the first 8 games of the season have been up and down, to say the least. Now 4-4, the team last played at home at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday and got booed off the court after a loss to the Charlotte Bobcats. D’Antoni heard chants of “Phil Jackson” as the MSG faithful expressed their disappointment in his coaching.

Then, on Saturday, the good Knicks were back, with a 103-80 rout of the Pistons. Now, they’re ready for another stint at home, returning to the Garden on Monday night to face the Bobcats, with an opportunity for serious payback. The 76ers will head to MSG on Wednesday night for the second game of the home stretch.

This early season test may prove to show the true colors of this 2012 team. Have tickets? Come see us after the game. If you’re not heading to the game, come watch with us. We’ll have it on our TVs, and we’ll be full of Knicks fans, so there will be a built-in celebration. (Hey, we think positively!) Go Knicks!

Let the Good Times Roll at The Pit

It’s no secret that there are up-and-coming actors all over NYC, and that many of today’s leading actors and comedians got their start in the city. But, where to find the next Alec Baldwin or Tina Fey? We’re lucky to have lots of independent productions and performances happening right in our neighborhood, and one of our favorite spots for comedy — both shows and classes — is The Pit (short for the People’s Improv Theatre). Dedicated to instruction and performance of original comedy, The Pit also offers a workshop program for team building and leadership training. How’s that for a day at the office?

Comedy is more than just the performers on the stage. Comedic writing is also an art, and The Pit offers training for budding writers as well. With classes for budding screenwriters and wannabe SNL skitwriters alike, they offer writing classes and seminars for just about any type of comedy. Some of the many shows put on each night at The Pit always feature student writing and acting — mixed with guest performances by the likes of Jimmy Fallon, you’re sure to be entertained. Check out the show list here, with tickets starting at just $5. If you’re considering classes, The Pit’s full list is on their website, with classes starting all the time. Or - our favorite offering – check out the Corporate Seminars; share the page with your boss and get ready for the best team-building event you’ve ever had.

No matter whether you’re heading to The Pit for class, a show, or a workshop – you’re sure to be entertained and to leave laughing. Keep the good times rolling over a few pints at Mustang Sally’s after the main event. Show us your ticket stub or other proof that you’re coming from The Pit, and get $1 off every drink and 15% off all food orders – that more than pays for the ticket to the show!

Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre: A NYC Treasure

Amy Poehler, Horatio Sanz, Tina Fey, Will Ferrell, Rachel Dratch. What do they have common….other than Saturday Night Live? Their performances at Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre, of course. If you’ve never been – this is a true NYC comedy treasure. Located at 26th and 8th in Chelsea, the Upright Citizens Brigade was originally composed of 4 comics: Poehler, Matt Besser, Ian Roberts, and Matt Walsh, who brought their act to NYC from Chicago in 1996. 3 years later, in 1999, the theater opened on West 22nd Street, and moved to its current location in 2003.

The Theatre’s stated mission is “fostering both an appreciation and education of the arts through affordable and high quality comedic performances and classes,” and to offer “big names for small change.” And it delivers. Robin Williams, Alec Baldwin, Tina Fey, and other modern comedy legends have all performed at UCB, where most tickets are just $8.

With shows at 8 PM and 11 PM most weeknights, and sometimes a 9:30 performance in between – and late night shows on Friday and Saturday nights - there’s almost always a performance worth your while at UCB.

Have comedic aspirations yourself or want to perform at UCBT? Check out its Longform Improvisation Training Center, where every level of class includes at least one performance at UCBT

Here’s the best news of all. Mustang Sally’s offers a great deal to current-day UCB ticket holders. Come by before or after a show, and we’ll give you 15% off on all food orders and $1 off every drink. If you come with a hearty appetite, you can end up saving on your bill as much as you paid for the ticket. It’s like getting the show for free!

Watch Party for West Virginia in the Orange Bowl

One of the most famous bowl games will be played this Wednesday night as the West Virginia Mountaineers take on the Clemson Tigers.

Watching your team in a bowl game can be tricky in NYC sports bars. Many supposed sports bars may choose to show Sports Center instead of a live game.

This does not happen at Mustang Sally’s – we’ve long been called one of the best sports bars in NYC, because we have multiple TVs visible from every seat.

This is especially true if you are a West Virginia fan – we’ve gotten many inquiries about the Orange Bowl from West Virginia fans, and we expect a good-sized contingent of them for the game.

If you wear a West Virginia jersey, sweatshirt, hat or other item of clothing in support of one of the teams, we’ll extend our Happy Hour prices to you for the duration of the game.

At Mustang Sally’s, we also serve outstanding pub fare and bar food, along with a stellar line-up of world class beers and other drinks. As NY Magazine wrote, Sally’s is “as comfortable place as any to while away a pennant race or an NFL Sunday” – or, we might add, the Orange Bowl.

Are you looking for a sophisticated vibe for dinner before the big game? Check out Seven Bar & Grill, our sister restaurant right down the block.

Party at Sally’s After Swedish House Mafia at MSG.

Have you heard? Swedish House Mafia will be at Madison Square Garden on December 16th. To say that this sold out show is highly anticipated is an understatement – the group even set up a secret coded website, www.230911.com, that they used to slowly unveil letters announcing this “One Night Stand” show. Have tickets to the show? Get excited with a series of videos here, and come see us at Sally’s before and after the show. Since we’re just steps from the Garden, you can enjoy a quick dinner and easily make it over for the 8 PM start - since we’re close, no worries about leaving a pad for subway or taxi delays – just come, eat, then party. Then come back :) We’ll be partying until 4 AM, in the best Irish pub atmosphere near the Garden.

Not going to make it to the concert? You can still get the T-shirt here, or you can come party with us during the show, claim your bar stool, and get the lowdown from concertgoers as they pour in after the show.

Enjoy one of the most popular house music groups of our day, in one of the United States’ best venues, and celebrate the night and the holidays at Mustang Sally’s. Cheers!
